Abhay Deol is famous for his down to earth movies, but with this one he takes it a little too far, farther than the acceptable level. The movie is more meant for film festivals and less for commercial show. Dev Bengal who is famous for movies like ‘split wide open’ makes no surprise with this one. Only thing is, this time he is responsible for making a movie that has become a disaster at the box office.
Road movie is about an immature guy who doesn’t like his father’s oil business. The movie is about a road trip he took on a truck carrying two projectors and the people and places that he meets along the dire journey that he makes through the middle of the nowhere desert. On the way he meets a child laboured boy, who sticks with him despite his arrogant behaviour; then a mechanic, with whom he makes a deal for repairing his 1942 Chevy truck; Then the threesome meets a girl in the middle of the desert who becomes their life savior by offering drops of water. Rest of the movie shows how these four travelers meet the ups and downs of the journey together.
Along the way they meet a corrupted cop, who arrests them claiming to be the water mafia Don, they escapes from the custody by showing their movies in the truck projector. Later on, they are captured by the real water mafia Don himself, who claims that every drop that has fallen from the sky belongs to him. This time he uses his father’s oil to save his and his companions life.
Like you hear in the trailer of the movie, it has got everything – comedy, tragedy, thriller, romance, etc. but it doesn’t have a strong story. The screenplays and dialogues are good. Abhay deol as usual delivers a commendable performance but it is Sathesh Koushik who steals the show. Dev Bengal has done a good work by depicting the destitute of people of desert and how much they value water. But for Deol fans they will have to wait for his next flick for an entertaining one.
