I guess what makes this picture unique from the run of mill stuff we get to see week after week is not that it is based on rock music but the fact that it tells you that whatever you do and however successful you are you are not going to be happy unless your mind is where your heart is which is explained.
Very sensitively in this film which is what makes this film truly rock on so the film has a good but not original script, excellent screenplay, good direction, good lifting music, excellent acting and a good mix of humour and drama so my view is that the film is not original as you just cant ignore references to dil chahta hai or for that matter jhankar beats neither it is entirely about rock music but still it manages to touch your heart by its simplicity and endearing charm which makes you feel for the underdog so go watch it as I feel you wont be disappointed*
Story
*The film is the story of aditya(farhan akhtar), joe(arjun rampal), kd(purab) and rob(luke kenny) who once were in a rock band called magik but had broken up because of petty issues and ideals after winning a rock contest so now we had adi who had now become an investment banker and had married sakshi(prachi) but still wasnt happy while joe who couldnt go commercial because of his ideals is constantly insulted by his wife debbie(shahana).
Who also is frustrated as she had to let go her dream of being fashion designer to look after her family business while kd reluctantly becomes a jeweller and rob becomes musician for music director so sakshi one day accidently discovers adityas past and hence decides to makes aditya happy by reuniting him with his other band members so after initial hesitation ice is broken, friends reunite and the band is formed which after some hiccups manages to perform again at a known stage before a tragic incident derails them and ends their band but not before making their frienship bond unbreakable and thee film ends on a positive note*
