Superb Movie! For a music lover, music is life, music is love. If music leaves his life, what is there to live for?
The cavity left cannot be filled by any other thing... Be it money, accomplishments or perfect marriage. Every other material happiness falls short to fulfill that cavity....
Thats what this movie shows...Music is something where you have to devote yourself.. you have to go beyond your ego... Only then music comes alive... and gives you the happiness, the energy that you need to enjoy all the luxuries and relationships in your life!
Very simple and sweet plot woven around four friends and the role of music in their life...Again the movie does not show any dramatic villanious character.. Every character is shown to have certain negative traits... And mostly personal ego which acts as the villian....
Story is superb, Cinematography is good, Acting is perfect, all actors have acted very well.... Costumes are very nice. Lot of care is taken to make the costumes look apt...
Music could have been better. I was expecting something like Lucky Ali Albums... It is not that good... But still the songs stay with you... because of the picturisation...
The theme is Rock Music... But there are some really sweet moments in the film... Like, a Rock Band performing Hindi songs at Dandiya... Then, Farhans wife, singing old Lata Mageshkar melody... Such moments acknowledge that Hindi film music is the most popular form of music in India... and Rock/Pop Music is yet to achieve that kind of popularity....
I loved the movie... I am definitely going for a repeate watch!
Farhan Akhtar is a fine filmmaker... Every movie from him DCH, Lakshya, Honeymoon Travels...
(SRK spoilt Don, otherwise it was also a good remake ) has been very different and has lot of soul in it... Rock On is another such movie.... Very beautiful movie, loved it...
Most memorable performances: Arjun Rampal... Should get Best actor award... Great Perfromance...
And of course Farhan Akhtar! Very loveable performace!
Recomended for those who like to watch offbeat movies.... If you like masala films like OSO, Partner, etc, this one may not be for you...
