Last week two movies were released, one in Hindi - Rocky Handsome and the other English - Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice! Both scored poorly - may be a 1.5-2 stars. While I would write separately about B vs S, here is in short report card of Rocky Handsome:
First of all I am not sure where John Abrahams career is heading as an Actor and whether he has the ability to uplift a film on his own. Though, he played an ok role here he needed an equally good story-line, direction and support from other aspects of the movie - for this one to be a hit.
The concept is somewhat on lines of Bajrangi Bhaijan, where JA plays the role of a don/killer and always wears a serious face with no much talking - grumpy kind. The movie is shot on the dark side of Goas drug and crime scene. (Looks like Goa police should take some tips from Bollywood directors as they seem to know more details of this business than the local cops).
JA runs a pawn shop and a neighbor girl is fond of him. Eventually, this girl gets kidnapped and JA goes out of way to rescue her. In the bargain, he encounter the drug maafia-villains who sound more of jokers with some over-acting here.
Movie has lot of violence, blood-shed, breaking of bones, skulls and this movie, anytime, looks to have been inspired by a Korean film. Not sure, why it should have been called Rocky Handsome?
How can a Bollywood movie be without a love angle, some songs and some tours of foreign sight seeing places? There is a short flashback of JAs love life with wife and a free site seeing tour of Seychelles.
The movie is kind of unbearable and I would recommend to avoid the same, if possible. Instead, try to catch up on some of the real life movies that were released some few weeks back.
