Okay, after garnering lot of attention in Madras Cafe and making successful movies like Vicky Donor, John Abraham raised the expectation level from audience. With powerful promos of Rocky Handsome, my expectations were high too. Sadly, the movie is not worth it.
The plot is around an ex special force agent trained for covet operations living alone in the dingy lanes of Goa. After losing his pregnant wife(Shruti Hasan) in a terrorist attack, his service records are deleted and he runs a pawn shop from his house, with a 7 year Naomi(his neighbour) as his only visitor. Expressionless most of the times, Handsome(as his nickname) is a silent protector and companion to Naomi, and ends up feeding or letting her sleep in his house while her mother gets wasted in drugs. The gradual uprise of drug mafia& child traffickers in Goa, gets Naomi’s mother killed the little girl kidnapped. Handsome goes on a rampage to find her and busting the whole racket all by himself.
The pot has nothing new to offer. Most of the characters were misfit and badly portrayed. Well, villains also have a personality which is missing in this movie. The bad guys are irritating and characters overdone. The only saving grace of the movie was the martial arts sequence in the climax when Handsome and a bad guy fight. But seriously, who will sit through the entire movie to see a fight scene?
John’s great body alone cannot make a movie successful.
