Rocky is Zayed Kahan’s major solo release after the super success of Main Hoon Na.
Before we talk about the first track, a warning to all those who do not like Mr. Himesh, especially as a singer ......
The first track "Junnon" ’s starting is similar like "24X7 I think of you" of 36 China Town. Amrita Kak, with her base voice compliments himesh very well. The "antra" has some cool piece of "Tabla". Only, the repetition of Junon by Himes is irritating.
The Junoon Remix by DJ Akbar Sami is awesome.
Song "Laagi Chhute Na" is racy passoniate love song, which starts with the musical piece of Shubha Mudgal’s "Dholna". This piece is present in "antra" also.
Himesh has nicely used "shenai" and "sarangi"!!!!!!!!! to enhance the song.
Sameer takes inspiration from the classic hit "Lagi Chhute Na" from Kali topi lal rumal.
Intermittent use of "Shenai’ and some good mixiing of modern musical instruments makes the Lagi Chhute Na (Rimix) an interesting songs.
"Teri Yaad Bichaake Sota Hoon" is an average love song inspired by Old classic "Mere Piya Gaye Rangoon".
The starting piece from "Dholana" is present here also, but the musical instruemnts use are different. The pace of fast singing makes the "Teri Yaad Bicchake Sota Hoon" (Remix) good.
Finally, there is a song without Himesh as a singer. Himesh has given a break to Mr. Vinit - a talent hunt sear.
Song "Dil Rang Le" is sung by Vinit. It’s traditional song with "Bhangara" touch. Himesh could do better for this songs. Instead Vinit, he should go for Sonu Nigam for this type of songs. Though, Sunidhi was there to help Vinit, but....! she fails to help him....
Dil Rang Le (Remix) by DJ Akbar Sami is an average remix .
The nice song of the album "My Love for You..", is a soft romantic number. The varying pace of song ( fast to slo and vice versa) make it somewhat unique. Himesh and Akriti Kakkar sing with a lot of feelings!!!
Sameer’s english lyrics "My love for you is not one night stand" sounds out of place.
In remix of "My love for you", softness and uniqness of song is diluted by DJ Akbar Sami.
The "Rocky, Rock the World (Remix)" is today’s tiem job by DJ Akbar Sami. The slow drawl 80’s composition becomes more catchy and appealing from the 2006 audience.
On the whole, "Rocky" that comes from the makers of successfull "Akshar" (minus Emran Hasmi) has couple of good tracks like "Junoon", "Lagi Chhute Na" and upto some extent "Teri Yaad Bicchake Sot Hoon".
However this album is one of the weakest album by Mr. Himesh Reshmiya.
