Romeo Akbar Walter Movie Review
Romeo Akbar Walter which also stands for RAW, which is technically the shortened version of Research and Analysis Wing under India’s foreign intelligence agency that hires Romeo played by John Abraham who is a bank cashier but is disguised to act as Akbar by RAW. Akbar is traditionally India’s undercover agent in Pok which is Pakistan occupied Kashmir areas.
Instead of being an interesting psychological drama that takes into consideration the emotional disruption of the spies, Grewal’s Romeo Akbar Walter takes the mainstream conventional route that effectively merges patriotism and espionage thriller. Throughout the movie, there is no emotion and tension which is sadly overridden with well-intended monotonous costume drama that lacks in evoking a deep feeling of patriotism.
The subtle point in the drama which is seen to lack the feeling of utter excitement is when it features agents and double-agents chatting at qawwali performances played by John Abraham and Mouni Roy. The film also highlights some third-act trickeries that could have been better.
This film also features Sikander Kher and Jackie Shroff wherein Jackie Shroff plays the head of RAW, are both seen to give average performances, considering that Jackie’s style is going to leave you to adore him like traditional times.
Romeo Akbar Walter overall showcases John Abraham plays three characters with three names and even though Jackie Shroff keeps on insisting “Nothing will be told to you directly”, every little information is spelled out as the movie takes a long drag route.
