This is one of the most touching, most descriptive books I have ever read.
The story is probably familiar to most people. It describes how a young boy is spirited away from his native African home to America by slave traders. Okay this is not actually the entire book. It is basically how a black American traced his ancestry to this African boy Kunta Kinte, and the generations that follow up to the present day.
The book is so evocative that one can actually see what is happening, and cry along with Alex Haley as he returns to the site where Kunta Kinte was kidnapped and subjected to a miserable life from then onwards.
The book is very long. I mean how else can he possibly describe every generation of his ancestors in such detail, but well worth it.
