I got the chance to see a special screening of this very film and therefore going to give this review. The film is produced by WINDOWS ( i.e. Siboprasad Mukharjee and Nandita Roy's home production) and here also the duo presents a different flavour.
The film is in some sense a biopic of Nabin Chandra Das the inventor of delicious food item and pride of Bengal - Rosogolla. The story line revolves around this invention and hardships undertaken by Nabin moira in inventing this.
In this film Ujaan Ganguly, son of veteran national award winning director Kaushik Ganguly has made his debut. He plays the role of Nabin moira here. And nodoubt Ujaan did a wonderful job. Abantika Biswas here plays the Khirodmoni , Nabin's wife . The chemistry between Ujaan and Abantika works well in retelling the sadly sweet tale of love . Abantika is cute, sponteneous. Apart from this , this film has a sterling starcasts- Aparajita Adhya, Bidipta Chakraborty, Kharaj Mukharjee, Rajatava Dutta, Kaushik Sen , Subhashree etc. All do justice to their roles.
The whole tale is told in the backdrop of 19 th century Bengal and film successfully captures the time. Cinematography is good.
This is the last musical venture of Kalika Prasad, the veteran musician who left us last year. Music is soothing as well soulfull. A song by Arka Mukhajee touches our heart. In another song 'tapur tupur'composed and sung by Arnab Dutta raptures of love is celebrated aptly.
But the most praise-worthy thing of this film is direction. In his second film Pavel shows his true color. After a long time , bengali film industry is going to get a fabulous director. He is really horse of long run.
Hopefully in this current critical scenerio, this will film will succeed to attract audience.
