Roxy Cinema is located in Dharmatala area of Kolkata. To be precise, it is situated in the Chowringhee place. It is an old theater hall and it is having flavor and charm of old kolkata.
It was a very popular hall and screened only super hit Hindi and Bengali films. This movie theater was established even before independence, so you can imagine the historical value of this place. Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose also visited this movie theater.
I have visited couple of movies in the hall. I visited there in the year 2004 to watch the movie "Baghban" and the interior of the hall was good and architecture was kind of Gothic pattern. I also watched couple of English movies in Roxy.
The hall building is now newly constructed in 2012. It is Air conditioned movie hall with Dolby Sound and Digital technology facility.
Now, this hall is at par with modern facility and amenities. You can even book the tickets online as well as purchase tickets over the counter.
Prices are standard and reasonable, lower than multiplexes.
With all the modern facilities available as per the norm of other standard movie hall, I recommend this place as very few movie theaters in our country is still existing having such rich historical background.
