Royal Enfield did a great job last year by bringing awesome first ever dual sport motorcycle in the country. When it was declared, I already started feeling adrenaline of going on adventure rides on this motorcycle. I would try to be honest while giving you information about Himalayan. Though there are a lot of possibilities of improvement, however, considering the price, I would not highlight any negative points about it. Less power to weight ratio, no ABS, less weight carrying capacity are few points which upset me but let it be. It is first ever dual sport, lets give RE an applaud for that.
Fuel Consumption: Roughly 30 kilometers/litre(approximately). Does it really matters? Yes being an Indian, everyone asks "What is the mileage?". But be assured friends, it would give you no less than other 400 cc motorcycles in the country.
Comfort: If you have ridden Duke, your back would feel like heaven on Himalayan. I dont think there is any other motorcycle in India which is near RE Himalayan in terms of comfort.
Reliability: Rest assured, if this motorcycle give you any sort of trouble in India, it wouldnt be difficult to find a RE service center; however, newly developed engine with the help of UK based Harris Performance, I dont think one has to face issues that normally exists in other RE motorcycles.
Handling & Control: Smooth as butter. Headlight is mounted on frame. Handle is so smooth, also thanks to 21 inch front wheel with long suspension. Actually made for Indian roads. ABS is missing but I wouldnt prefer racing on this motorcycle. It is meant for touring.
Looks: Like it or Hate it, its up to your taste. I like it because everything is in place and for a use. I love how they place bash place under the belly of 411 cc engine. Rear rack for mounting you soft luggage bag is an added advantage.
