When I wanted to Buy an extra ordinary, unique bike, I remembered reading that Enfield has come up with a new Unit Construction Engine with Twinspark for Thunderbird. I thought I should test drive The Enfield Thunderbird Twinspark.
The bike created a smile the moment it started. The bike is just heavy when it is stationary. Once you start the ride, the superb weight distribution and balance come to action and you have a bike which you can cut and twist even in city traffic with ease.
Now a Proud owner of a TBTS for over a month and done over 1000 km, I think it is time to share my experience with all of you out there.
Pros:-
Amazing Power and pickup – U can make those toy bikes breathe your fumes if you want to
Great torque – Increases as u go faster. Peaks at 4000rpm.
Killer Street fighter looks – Set heads turning and eyes following where ever u go
Comfortable seating position – Can seat two people effortlessly. My friend says the back seat is the best one he has ever sat on. I havent verified it. I have the front one:)
Auto decompressor and TCI – this is one Enfield bike u can kick start with ease. People are dumbstruck when I start my TBTS in one kick .
Quiet – The TBTS is very quiet by Enfield standards due to the UCE engine and the long silencer.
Long Silencer – It look fitting for a long bike and gives it the uniqueness I wanted.
And the best part is Royal mileage of 45+ kmpl I saw some reviews showing 50+ but I am sure 45+ can be guaranteed
Cons:-
Heavy – When not driving, It is a little difficult to move the bike ourselves. I have to sit on the bike and push with my legs to move it. May be I just gave a solution for this problem
Vibrations – May be due to peaking of torque at a higher rpm, the TBTS refuses to move quietly below 40 km/hr in top gear.
Sound – The Cult followers of Enfield will for sure find the absence of the thumping roar in this bike. TBTS has a characteristic note of its own which is softer that the roar of the bullet.
Cold Start – Cold start is becoming more and more difficult as the winter is progressing. Now I am being forced to use the choke every morning and night.
Front Suspension – it is a little bumpy if you try to jump over the plastic speed breakers(Oh…I hate them) which is now a hit among the traffic police. But then why do you have to jump on the first place
Final verdict
Royal Enfield Thunderbird Twinspark is a really amazing bike which I would recommend to anybody who can spare just over a lakh for a bike. It is worth the price tag. NO other bike gives you 20 HP power and 45+ mileage at the same time.
