A foodie at heart I decided to experiment this new joint looking at the outside appearance which looked appealing. once in the place had a tired appearance to it....**with bland faced waiters **and dingy lighting the ubiquitous baggy green hue and American sports gear hung on the walls gave it a garage look......Ruby Tuesday (RT) probably wanted to look sophisticated but ended up losing my faith as a first timer as un-helpful and uncomfortable.
the menu card was obscenely large in size - I wondered why? - and with the tables small there was no chance that both diners could open up the menu card simultaneously and read! **The description wasnt very helpful (it never spoke about the taste / the appearance / the ingredients (everything was supposedly a RT secret!!!) and the prices were thru the roof....**I hoped that servings would justify the price (this hope was gained after seeing the water glass & the fresh lime which looked more like a jug!)
*The service took a phenomenally long time **and when it finally did come the waiter got the dishes one by one **(spaced out by 5 minutes) **i.e. none of the diners can start off without the complete serving been done! only to let the food cool off...The serving (Triple Platter Tenders & Fish Tenders) was much lesser than wat we had thought off....**the presentation was absent **(that was among the many things that was absent!), **the food was bland - absolutely spiceless, no salt! thankfully it was cooked atleast! it was so tasteless that we barely had anything (out of the insufficient serving). **Also the service too so much time our subsequent movie plans went for a complete toss!
The final icing on the cake came when the bill was asked for - first they took a long time to get that as well! and when they finally did they gladly added a **’Service charge’ (**Rs. 180) to their already obnoxious charges - does it mean a formal tip which the restaurant decides for itself (is this persent at any other place atleast its not present at the Taj / Oberoi even)??? When I objected to paying that they meekly cancelled it from the bill - stating it as a discount!
all in all it was a horrible experience...
