Lola (Franka Potente) has got 20 minutes to save her boyfriend Manni (Moritz Bleibtreu), out of a jam he’s gotten himself into. Lets say his life is on the line and shes got 20 minutes to do it. Sounds like a video game ..doesnt it? Whoa... it is.
Well the coolest thing about the movie is we not only get to see what happens as Lola struggles to get her money, but we see it happen three times. Its like a game, you start a game and u lose. Then you start all over again with a few things learned and try not to make those mistakes again. Play until you win. Honestly I found this movie to be quite interactive. By the second and third attempts of Lola trying to save Manni, me and my friends were screaming all the possible outcomes. Then there are these different people she encounters while she runs whose fate keep changing after every 20 minutes.
Run Lola Runis a cult movie. Another one of Tarantino genre. This is the first German film that I watched and despite watching it with english subtitles it kept me engulfed. I was quite impressed with the actress Franka Potente, surely a very talented one. Ive seen her before in the movies Blow and The Bourne Identity but failed to notice. She surely makes an impact in this movie. I think its time for this German girl to make a stronger impact in Hollywood.
