Exceptional!!!!!

Well here I am again.writing......ok saat phere is another of zee’s soaps.it was heavily advertised and I would have loved to start at the beginning but I was in school when it started.but I just know I came home to meet the programme which airs at 6:00pm nigerian time.you know I love the series becos it is quite different from other soaps cos I tell u its not easy to be dark skinned in this world where you are considered an outcast if u don’t conform to the status quo or standard they have set.and that is what I love about it.

the series is about saloni who is from a particular class in the indian society(by the way I was taught about the caste system when I was in primary school and I am so ashamed to think it still exists!!) and she has always been put down and talked down at just becos of her colour.they dont see the goodness in her, just her colour and it is a pain.her mother was always harsh on her and though in a way she could be understood becos since everyone else in her family is fairskinned, it would only be natural to think she had an affair.but a mother should not take her frustrations out on her daughter.this precipitated into shubra the fairskinned sister also treating saloni with disdain.enter the evil kaveri who is samar’s wife.she hates saloni with a passion and does all in her power to cause her pain.

but who says good things dont happen to good people?a rich family is approached with a proposal for shubra but when they come to the house, nahar sees saloni and falls in love with her which drives the wedge between sisters even wider.after a lot of chaos before the wedding primarily caused by kaveri and karan(who is a boy shubra slept with and ended up pregnant), saloni finally marries nahar and is so loved by the family it is surreal.

enter kakisaa.the evil aunt who is hell bent on throwing saloni out of the house.buasaa(that is saloni’s widowed aunt)wants to marry the man she loves who is their driver dhananjay who I hear is of a lower caste.kakisaa uses this to blackmail the family members into standing against saloni but she still manages to get them married.after a furor t the temple where they go to seek blessings and saloni is injured on kakaisaa’s instruction, the police come to take kakisaa away but saloni saves her anyway.at this juncture she wins over kakisaa.

there is however a secret in the house that gets everybody’s panties in a bunch if it is ever refered to and nahar who is usually calm flies off the handle.this would only naturally cause a person to be more curious and so saloni wants or needs to find out what it is.now obviously we are behind all of u in india cos we just got to the part where kaveri has gotten samar’s parents to sign the mortgage.i dont know what her problem is cos the family she is disgracing is also her family.she is nuts if u ask me.and samar is just a redundant character-he’s like a poppet on strings and has to be really dense to not know how evil his wife is.

but you know the thing I love about this series is that it has never gone overboard with the storyline.i mean the love between nahar and saloni makes me blush-and I dont blush!!and I think all the characters are played very well.i mean the fact that we dont have loint families here in nigeria doesnt mean we dont have extended families and a traditional system in some of our societies where the elder brother’s word is law and it still happens so it is going to take some doing to get rid of it.it only takes defiant people to go against it and win.i love the theme it preaches...dont judge a book by its cover.read then decide whether or not it was worth it.i love the fact that saloni is no longer a weak in the sense that she just sits there and takes the insult.she gives as good as she gets but not by show of violence or sarcastic retorts.i love this series and will highly recommend it.even I learned to be calmer about reacting to situations but I am in no way going to take a verbal beating from anyone.i will bite back!!! but hey, this is a good show and I highly recommend it.
