Before seeing the movie…
Whenever I used to say I want to see this movie, my Dear Hubby with a mischievous smile always said, ‘Why do you want to waste money on seeing this film? It’s all as real as us, it’s about how we were before marriage and how we are after marriage. In fact I am so sure this movie will spoil “You” ;o). Why do u want to spend money for seeing what’s happening at our house daily?’ I never understood what all that mean until yesterday after seeing the movie … ;o)
Presenting Saathiya…
Isn’t this the Remake of Mani Ratnam’s Alai Payuthe? You bet!! It is. Produced by Yash Raj films, Directed by Shaad Ali, it is unquestionably the most simple, realistic, sensible and practical movie, of common people like you and me.
O Sweetheart (Saathiya)…
Nothing great about the story, Yeah!! It’s just another “Love Story” of a girl next door, with a boy in the next bungalow LoLz!! A rich boy! Meeting at friend’s marriage. Getting married against their parents will. Then… well!! Whatever you may be thinking but it’s a short sweet, but practical story, not one of those goody goody types where everything is shown to be perfect.
The looks (Cinematography)…
Hats off to Anil Mehta for his unique art of making the film look so real, no heavy makeup, no exposing of body, no out door shootings but simple shots on the roads, busses, Local trains and chawls presented perfectly… I was just wondering how come they used to find the local trains so empty at any time of the day? ;o)
Actors in the movie (Cast)…
The cute guy Possessing an extraordinary ability to attract, who has opened his Company and traveled by different road… you got it right, Vivek Oberoi playing Aditya urf Adi the son of a rich man, the handsome actor proving his versatility once again.
A short sweet ‘ee kya bolti tu’ girl, whose heavy and harsh sounding voice didn’t once made her feel uneasy on the silver screen… Yes!! Rani mukherji playing as Dr Suhani urf suhan from a typical middle class family proves perfect for the role with her beautiful smile, simple dressing and excellent natural acting.
Bold girl from the serial “Koshish” on Idiot box… Sandhya Mridul as Dina urf De, Rani’s elder sister with her simple and cute acting, suited for the role.
Special appearance by ‘k k kk kiran’ boy … Shah Rukh Khan and ‘Astitva’ girl … Tabu was a pleasant surprise. But actually speaking was insignificant and could have been played by anyone.
Piece of Music (Songs)…
One of my favorite “humma Humma” song composers, A. R. Rehman has proved once again to be good. Was waiting to see the title song ‘Sathiya’ but was quite upset with it except for the initial two lines, actually liked the songs ‘chalka chalka’ and ‘Aye udi udi’. 9 songs I feel were too much for this movie.
Favorite lines (Dialogues)…
! Train rukegi to kud jaunga …(practical reply to the girls challenge to jump from the train)
! I Love you Matlab.. Matlab…(Making the boy who feel everything is done once I Love You is said very conscious)
! Ab meri jimedari tumhe sambhalne ki hai aur tumhari mujhe (a rude but sensible reply for the girls complain on what all the boy used to do before marriage to make her happy)
! Shadi ke pehele to tumhe ye accha lagta tha (the most common complain of most of the wife’s to their husbands)
! Ghar chodke shadi karne mein ek faida hai… ladki bar bar maike jane ki dhamki nahi deti (warning every wife gives to her dear bichara hubby on every small fight… my hubby is so used to it he doesn’t even believe it now.)
Best Shots (Scene)…
All the scenes are shot too good but still we have our favorites…
! The first shot, Vivek the happiest person in the happiest mood on his bike. With this scene vivek entered straight in my heart ;o)
! Rani upset from her hospital incident hugs vivek standing in the balcony and vivek feeling so conscious of everyone looking at them.
! Vivek shouting at Rani for something… she just giggling and kissing him.
! Rani’s accident shot … Excellently taken… am still wondering how did they manage to shoot this?
After seeing the movie (After effects…)
Happyz: Why don’t you cook sometime?
Hubby: You didn’t put this condition before marriage and he threw the food he has cooked.
Happyz : Now I will also start marking the days we fight.
Hubby: I told you not to waste money on this film…
LoL!! Now I understand why he said he didn’t wanted to waste money on this film… ;o)
