I wanted a text of Quran when I landed on this site. When I ventured more on this site I was amazed at the amount of content it had. This site is best for a person who wants to know about religious theology. This is best site for a person who is interested in reading about Mythologies of different regions of world. It has religious scriptures of almost all the major religions of world. They have religious texts of Baha’i, Buddhism, Celtic, Confucianism, Esoteric, Icelandic, and Jainism which are very difficult to get. It is one stop for people who are interested in study of religion and its development.

Something Different from religion

This site is not just for religious zealots but also for people who want to know about different facades of world religion. Also something different in this book what I liked was that it also has works of Tacitus(great orator and historian of Rome) and also works of Herodotus( Father of History) describing the conflict between Greeks and Persians.

In the link of “Age of Reason” we have something opposite of what is available all over the site.

What if God doesn’t exist? What if humanity is not the center of the universe? What if there is no absolute truth? Here are some texts by free-thinking pioneers of our era that address these questions.

This is the introduction of this link. It consist works of Roger Bacon, Thomas Paine, and interestingly Mark Twain. Also I came across works and books on Alchemy. There are numerous books available in the link of Alchemy.

Hinduism:

All the Vedas and Upanishads are available in Hinduism section of the site. I myself have never read Vedas but now I am looking forward to read it. It has Vedas in Roman letters with Devanagiri Script. Also important texts include

The Laws of Manu

• The Sacred Laws of the Aryans

• The Institutes of Vishnu: It consists of description of Yogic practices.

Mahabharata and Ramayana(obviously they both have to be there)

Bhagavad-Gita both in Roman and Devanagiri Scripts.

Works of Shankaracharya, Patanjali, Kalidasa, Ramakrishna Paramhansa also have space in this section. If that is not enough then also there are works of Rabindranath Tagore, Songs of Kabir etc. Very famous books like “Autobiography of a Yogi” by Paramhansa Yogananda, “How to be a yogi” by Swami Abhedananda is also available.

Islam :

As I have already told you that I came across this site while searching for Quran; this site has quran translated in English. In this the best things to look for in this section are:

“A Manual of Hadith.” The Hadith are collections of Islamic traditions and laws (Sunna). It has discourses of Muhammad and later Islamic sages

“The Mystics of Islam” by Reynold Nicholson

The Bible, the Quran and the Talmud. It consists of biblical Legends of Muslims.

The Prophets, Their lives and their Stories by Abdul-Sâhib Al-Hasani Al-’âmili.

Best thing to look for:

The best thing of site what I liked is the section of “Legends and Sagas”

In Legends and Sagas section there is book of “1001 Arabian Nights”,

Stories of Vikram and Vampire, Folk tales from the Russian, “Popular Tales from norse” etc.

In the Miscellaneous link I found following things interesting and are worth reading:

•   Lore of the Unicorn.

• Worship of the Serpent

• The Book of nature Myths

• Funeral Customs
