Sadhurangam - Vidyasagar doesn't disappoint...

Sadhurangam, a film that is due to be released soon, has been directed by Karu. Pazhiniappan under the banner of Mass Movies Makers. The lead cast are Srikanth and Sonia Agarwal. Music is by Vidyasagar.

Vidyasagar has been disappointing off-late by composing fast paced songs based on the success he had in Thirumalai and Gilli. He has come back to his original formula of having 3 or 4 good melodies in this movie. I hope that the music will form a strong point in the success this film. I have always liked Vidyasagar just for the variety he brings to melodies. At least a couple of songs would be definitely catchy.

Lets get down to business now....

Aaduvome Pallu Paaduvome - Manicka Vinayagam

This is a classical poem by one of the greatest ever poet who lived, Subhramanya Bharathi. The tune starts with a pleasing flute note and progresses with the solo beat in the background. The violin bits that appear in between the pallavi and the charanam and in the background in the charanams have blended a sense of inspiration to the whole song. The flute bit in the end creates a feeling of a happy ending. Manicka Vinayagam’s voice has transported us to those yesteryears.

Ambulimaama - Sujatha, Kay Kay

This is a fast paced song that sounds like a computerized output. This song does not appeal to those who would love melodies on the first try. May be the mass who are following these fast tunes would love this song. The tune sounds more similar to the one that Vidyasagar had composed for the song ’’Nee Oru Desam’’ from the film ’’Alai’’. That song too was sung by the same pair.

Engae Engae - Karthik

This song is a very pleasing melody number sung by Karthik. Right from the first decibel, this song carried all ingredients of a good song. The lyrics are just magical. The sax bit that starts this tune is extremely catchy. The entire song has a mild piano running in the background. The melodious bit between the pallavi and the charanam has a romantic touch to it. Vidyasagar has not let down music lovers in this number. The sax has been used brilliantly in this song. A-la-carte KennyG at his best would sound similar. Lovely song, by far the best in the film.

Enna Thanthiduven - Karthik, Srilekha Parthasarathy

A melodious ghazal tune, this one catches the ear immediately. The male voice that starts the song gives the impression that this one could be a solo. The lyrics have been penned beautifully. The singers have also sung their heart out. Srilekha especially has given a magical touch with her voice. Karthik is good as usual.

Vizhiyum, Vizhiyum - Harini, Madhu Balakrishnan

This song starts with a soft tune and a Bengali phrase. The first phrase in the pallavi has only a solo keyboard bit in the background. The tune gradually develops into a fine melody. This has been the trademark of Vidyasagar. He banks heavily on good lyrics and soft melodious tunes. He has emphasized a lot of times that he is at his best in these areas. This song is another example of that statement. Madhu Balakrishnan and Harini form a great pair in melodies. The lyrics are also good. This is a romantic number.

Ennena Pidikkum - Sunitha Sarathy

This is another fast track. Sounds like a space-age advertisement with more of westernised music with hard beats and jazzy sounds. This might catch the ear if heard two or three times. Sunitha has a good voice and she might be a good bet for some melody numbers too.

Well, am eagerly awaiting to see this film. Lets keep our fingers crossed and believe that the motion equivalent would be good too.
