This one is for all you souls out there who love their holidays and often wonder if a good hotel meant more then just a comfortable bed along with lavish breakfast buffet layouts. Think of it this way, how much of the facilities provided by a big bad Five Star Hotel/Resort we actually use. Its good to pamper oneself once in a while but when you are tired of the pasted smiles and over polite staff its time to check out the real world.
Thats what exactly my lovely partner had on her mind when we started planning our Christmas get away. Jaipur as a City alway delighted both of us, the charming shops and friendly people a great attraction always. A quick 3 hours drive from gurgaon is complete with lovely Aravali mountains to give you company and amongst the better roads in the country.
When my partner suggested Saharia Organic Resoft, I was not too sure of what lay in store but as always trusted her good judgement to plan out a great holiday. The place was not too difficult too reach, its about 22 kms before Jaipur on the Jaipur Sikar road, which means that you will take a right turn from Chandwaji towards Ajmer and drive towards Chomu. The turn towards the resort is not easy to notice so keep a look out for the JCPL factory and take the small road towards the right.
The resort is owned by Vinod Saharia and he is strives to provide a personal touch to your stay at the resort.
The Resort has small huts for stay which are done up absolutely like a rustic rajasthan village and are extremely comfortable. We felt that the huts will be very cold in the night due to lack of heating but suprisingly the material used to make the huts keeps them warm in the night as well. An absolutely delightful and not to mention romantic experience to stay in the rustic huts.
The walks around the resort are amazing and you would get a feeling of living in another time another place. Time comes to a standstill and the friendly village children make the whole picture beautiful. Villagers go about their daily routines and are always welcoming (expect to get treated to a hot cup of tea/milk fairly often). Thanks to a number of Global workers who keep visiting this part of rajasthan on voluntary service the villagers have picked up simple english words as well!
The resort manager Ramesh and the cook Suresh are two of the friendliest folks you will run into, they make sure you are comfortable and well fed. Great veg food welcomes you every meal time and the amazing Suresh will cook meals at your request as well.
Ramesh will show you sites around the Resort on request and you will meet some very interesting folks. Learn about the organic farming techniques and appreciate the fact that people like Vinod Saharia are attempting to make a differance to the environment by cutting out the chemicals and keeping the age old farming techniques alive.
Nights can get a bit cold during december and Jan so keep some warm clothes and carry some good wine as well. Ramesh lights up a nice bon fire in the night and the volunteers join in for some interesting conversation.
The sunrise and sunset are amongst the most memorable ones in north india, do remember to carry a good camera with you.
A must visit place for all the nature lovers.
All in all a great holiday experience, with kids or just the two of you!
Will keep coming back here of sure!
