Man I am never going to watch a new hindi movie again, what a waste of time I wasted like 2 and half hours on this movie, I don’t usually watch new hindi movies, where I live in idaho usa we don’t get hindi movies, we don’t have a desi stores, well we have one when I went to the store to ask for new movies he said koi mil gaya is the recent one he has, I couldnot stop laughing. Then I got my friend from california to send me some new movies, salam namaste is the first one I watched, from selections of Sarkar, bunty aur bubly, dus and aashiq banaya apne. Aashiq banaya apne I don’t wanna even look at.
so friends the movie stars saif the whinning ali khan, preity the dimple zinta, Arshad circuit warsi, jugal not succesfull hansraj and javed so stupid jafreey, but a good dancer. The movie is directed by a new comer sidharth anand and the music is by none other vishal&shekhar in my point of view are going a step further with every directed music.
The story is like nikhil arora ( saif ali) who doesn’t like to be called nikhil arora is called nick chef -cum- architect in australia, who falls in love with ambar(preity zinta) a radio jockey and student of surgery. So preity and saif have a run in I mean they think they love each other, and then pyar vyar and usual gaana bajana, they decide to test the attraction out by living with each other. Everything is fine until a new visitor arrives in their relationship, preity gets pregnant and baby is the last thing that saif wants.
Then they get into arguments most of the time, although saif doesn’t want the baby they are still living with each other, after a sometime in the movie saif realizes what a dumbass he has been so he decides to be a man and wants to marry amber.
First of all why would you live with someone if you only know him for 5 days. I know aditya chopra directed dilwale dulhania le jayenge, then after 5 years he lost his touch and directed mohabbatein, both love stories, and now after 5 more years he is producing a movie, and he thinks he made the story different, but it’s a total copy of the movie kya kehna, where preity also was pregnant in that movie and it had saif, so what’s the point of making the same story and take the same actors.
I read in most reviews that the topic is fresh, how is it fresh ladka - ladki meets and falls in love then ladka realizes about his mistakes, only different thing in the movie was they decide to live with each other and try to see how it works out, the things we don’t see in usual love stories, other wise it’s the same old story. The babyish treament is so inappropriate for a film that deals with grownups and and sensitive topic. The makes of the movies wants this to be a mature look at relationships and also want it to be a comedy on the other side.
The music is the movie allright it only has like 4 songs salam namaste is sung well by kunal ganjawala, who steals the show from the lady singer vasundra das. My dil does mmmmmm is all the way shaan’s song, but although gayatri iyer makes an effort to compete with shaan. What’s goin on should have been left out, the song I didn’t like each other course they were mad at each other, then preity ne zid kari ke usse belgian chocolate icecream khani hai, then they try to find place that has belgian ice cream and then this stopped song pops up and they make up in a minute. Tu jahan is sung welll by mahalaxi iyer and sonu nigam.
Performancewise, Saif whines in the whole movie and complaining, like he does in all of his movies. His character is immature and unlikable one, I don’t even like saif ali khan, he was fine when he was being ignored all of this years then finally got a hit with dil chahta hai thanks to farhan. Preity zinta is getting the same roles as an actress, kya kehna hai, veer zara, kal ho na ho, what is different in her acting, only actress like juhi chawla, madhuri dixit, meenakshi sheeshadri has good comedy timings, preity doesn’t even look good doing comedy. She seriously needs to take up more challenging roles. The two stars overact in the fighting and the bickering scenes so much.
JAved jaffrey is allright in the role given, I couldn’t even understand what he was saying in english, the thing I found funny was his look in the movie. Jugal hansraj character is not even needed in the movie. Arshad warsi as usual is great in the comedy scenes, no wonder they choose him to be circuit in munnabhai this guy is great and he gave one heck of a performance in sehar, this actor is surely underrated, but his comedy is ruined by his wife in the movie, whatever her name is.
Abhisek bachnan is horrible in his comedy he only there for like 5 minutes he was not needed as well.
I know I would get low ratings for saying saif is a bad actor and saying preity is bad actress also, but that’s just how I feel about this actors.
