If you want to see what Passion for - Life, living and the World around can do to a Mortal man living at higher levels of Life, You have to see Salarjung Museum, a one - man Collection of all the paintings, artwork, craft and anything made by crafty hands of Human Beings under the Sun from all over the World - East to West, North to South and remote corners of the world.
I visited the Museum soon after getting transferred to Hyderabad on a casual holiday. Undoubtedly, Mr Salarjung a royal and Of Course a wealthy & blessed Personality was widely travelled man, whose keen penetrating eyes unmistakenly spotted the Beauty in any art work and Human and man-made creation and collected them for his own indulgence & posterity. He was one the lineage from Royal Nizams of Hyderabad and one of many Intellectual of his time, I feel.
All over the World, Museums store art, artifacts and other articles of past history for posterity. But, it is the work of so many people or Government and Here it is one man filling for all the other men. This is the uniqueness about this Museum.
There are many exhibits - may be in thousands or tens of thousand; (countable by somebody but uncountable by me) - in the many rooms that are spread out in the ground and upper floors of the Stately Museum Building which is located in the Central part of the City, in the heart of old City of twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
Every day tens of thousands of people from all over queue up in lines to see the collections/exhibits in the museum. And, you can see the snaky winding queues as you make your way inside. The entry is priced like any other Museum at minimum.
It is one of the star tourist attraction of Hyderabad Tourist Division.
There are many exhibits and art works which catch your eyes and are soothing / pleasing to see (eyes), but One which is prince among them is the full length Italian statue of women clad in piece of transparent cloth or veil, where you can make out the outlines of Body, curves, depths and elevations and clearly see the veil falling over them. This is the masterpiece of Human Genius in arts and crafts.
It is worth visiting the Museum once If only for the Italian Statue .....
