People have diverse styles of calling names to their beloved celebrities.
Some people go on to the extent of venerating them as is the case with RAJNIKANT in the south and AMITABH BACHCHAN in the north.
Though both of these veterans surely do deserve it, one can’t be so sure of Salman Khan in this regard. I find it difficult to comprehend as to what this actor has done so mesmerizing, apart from showing his torso every now and then, to afford such mass following.
But the masses comprise of the commen man who failes to grasp the nuances of acting which hardly elude the critics. Some folks are so captivated by this actor that not only do they not see any fallibility in him, even if they see one they tend to neglect it.
Salman Khan hardly knows how to act, it’s a not a secret and the whole Bollywood knows about it. But what has bewildered these critics and analysts is that his movies earn a lot of money and the actor has been able to maintain league of hardcore fans throughout his career.
It’s not a surprise if a person, an actress usually, bagging a role not for her acting, but for her looks and figure, but an actor reaching the top of his game even when he has not even a iota of acting finesse is something unheard of.
But film industry is capable of showing these surprises because at the end of the day, it’s the masses who are going to be the judge of an actor’s competence.
And the masses don’t understand nuances of any skill. Anything too complex is to their dislike, which only the critics could praise. The masses are simple minded.
As in politics, whose ultimate evaluator are the masses, it’s because of them that an incompetent actor like Salman Khan, who entertains the masses by his dance, fighting skills and dialogues but doesn’t know how to express feelings on screen has become famous.
He caters to their desires, never minding the quality of the plot, depth of his character etc, and has in this way became a bankable star, of which he deserves not.
