Wikipedia defines samsara as - Samsara is derived from "to flow together, " to go or pass through states, to wander. Mostly a great revolving door between life and death and a new life reincarnated cycle of life.

Samsara is a story of a young monk and about the choices he makes. It is also a story of a young woman and her struggle to prevent her enlightened lover from renouncing everything and take on the path of spiritual destiny.

The story is set in the backdrops of pristine landscapes of Laddakh, Himalayas. Samsara is a search to find answers to most difficult questions and choices that most of us are hounded with once in a while. Anyone who has deep liking to the unknown yet mystic domain of spirituality will find a message in the story. The message being - "You cannot renounce everything unless you own something".

It leaves you to probe and trod on your own path to spiritual salvation and at the same time ensuring you fulfill your duties. On a side note all who have understood th gyst of Bhagwad Gita would agree that Lork Krishna never asked warrior Arjun to go and meditate in the woods, instead he asked him to fulfill his duties in this material world only.

The story is set to an apt opening with a young Lama (Tashi), after a three years, three months and three days meditation in a far off cave, returning to the monastery. He is expected to rise to a higer spiritual level. Turn of events make him sexually attracted to a young woman. He begins pondering over the life of a ascetic that he had chosen.

A joy for anyone who is spellbound by Himalayan beauty and the natural mystical aspects that emerge from it. The photography of the extraordinary is stunning. The soundtrack is very haunting.

The movie is quite lengthy - 2 and a half hours long. But the duration is justified and has intense moments to keep you busy. An important point about the movie is that you have to watch it closely.

Watch it and you will find the message powerful and may lead to disturbing questions for you itself. You will find questioning yourself whether true happiness lies in satiating all desires or is it in conquering them?

Truly, how can you prevent a drop of water from drying up?
