Poor Service- Being charged despite under warranty

I purchased a Samsung Galaxy J2 hand set in Jan 2016. Barely a month into usage the fone hung. When I went to the service outlet in Pune, they checked it and said that the display would have to be changed since water had got into it. I was surprised. They said that it could not be covered under warranty. I would have to pay Rs 4200. I told them that I purchased the hand set for 8400.


They wldnt agree to cover it under warranty. So, I said I didnt want to repair it and wanted to take it back. The service guy discussed with his superior. Thereafter, thehey then again discussed and asked me how much I was willing to pay. I said I could only pay Rs . Surprisingly they agreed. Then I told them that they must return the damaged part to me. They did not agree for that and said in that case I would have to pay Rs 4200 only. I then told them to at least show me the damaged part.


They agreed. The next day the set was repaired and I paid Rs 1500 but they did not show me the damaged part saying it was misplaced. Now what do you make of all this. I am sure this happening at all the Service outlets. The service agencies try to extract from the customer even if the handset is under warranty. So, Beware or you will be ripped off.
