Absurd Customer Care, OEM and Service Centers

Bought this J7 and used for less than six months. After monsoon, all of a sudden, the screen was showing 80% of white lines, and stopped booting. I went to one service center(Omkar in Vashi, Navi Mumbai) for getting the mobile serviced. They are the best cheaters in the world, I can confirm from my own experience.

Though the reason for non-working is’moisture entrapping’, they said that it was due to liquid damage and not covered under warranty. Grossly, they have indicated, an amount of more than Rs.12000/- as servicing charges(to replace motherboard, touchscreen, display, in-toto) for a mobile costing Rs.14000/-. I was astonished and took the mobile back home, without spending this money.

I kept the phone at home and waited for a few days, thinking what to do. One fine morning, I just put the phone for charging, before taking to another local service center(for second opinion). To my surprise, the phone is buzzing with life, and started working fine(except WiFi and Bluetooth). To my satisfaction, I used’factory reset’, to clear the stored data, before getting it repaired.

I took the phone to same Omkar Center, and confronted them, with the facts. They pulled out my earlier’job-sheet’, and repeated like a parrot, that, ’it is liquid damage’, and not under OEM warranty.

This time, they gave an estimate of Rs. 6000/-(to replace motherboard, in-toto) as parts+ servicing charges. With this I am very much clear about the malpractice of service centers. I filed a complaint with Samsung(online mode) for the actual price of the motherboard. At first, they denied to inform me the price, citing the reason that, only service center will have pricing details(clear that, it is monopoly).

In the whole process, I bought an insurance policy for this mobile from OneAssist, along with mobile purchase. They are another big cheaters, and avoid the claims of the customers, as far as possible. This part of review is posted, as a separate issue, under’OneAssist’.

On the whole, both service centers and insurance companies are, hand-in-glove, to cheat the customers. Be careful, not to have any repairs for the mobiles. Once it is damaged, we are taken for a ride, by these two groups, i.e., service centers and insurance agencies.
