UPDATE
The device worked flawlessly for 3 months or so. After this it would hang and crash pretty often. Tell tale signs of internal memory failure.
Service center upgraded the firmware instead. The problems are worse now. . .
The device automatically heats up and drains its battery within a few hours randomly. From full charge to zero within two hours. This has happened in my backpack twice and it was so hot it was painful to hold.
If the battery drains out, the device forgets all it’s contacts and favourites. Applications remain installed though.
The treatment at the service center is as if the customer is a destitute bheekmanga. Fortunately, Sammy’s CSRs were professional enough to council the service center owner.
This is my second samsung phone. The previous one too had battery issues and the touch screen was giving problems too.
This proves that while Samsung makes awesome hardware(screens, memory, etc) which are even used by apple, they do not yet know how to integrate their products themselves.
On a flight to new york, a management professor was telling me the same thing which he learnt from one of his students working somewhere with samgung. Their software design division is just worthless.
Purchased in May 2011 for a price of 24000 INR.
Here is how people react when they see me using my galaxy tab:
They look bemused. "What is that? Do you make phone calls with it? It’s as big as your face, ha ha ha! What have you been smoking?"
2 minutes later, they want a go too. You gotto be very careful who you give this to. Some people won’t give it back to you until you chase them or hit them with something. Sometimes children are better behaved than adults in this regard.
The screen on this this thing can put some LCD tv’s to shame. It’s really high resolution and the colors look as bright as in some high end LED TVs. Like I said, you’ve got to be very careful who you give this to. Most people will start watching whatever movie or music videos I have, and seem very offended when I have to pry it out of their hands. I had to uninstall angry birds only because of this.
Do you know what the back pedal looks like? I do. Most of the time, the very same people who were laughing at me 20 minutes ago, ask me where I can get this from. You should see the look on their face when I tell them that Samsung has stopped making this model.

This device is like a computer, smartphone and a mobile phone all rolled in one, packed in a 7 Inch wide and 1 cm thick package.
7 Inches is just about the very maximum size that you can shove into your jeans or even pants pockets. At the very edge of portability vs user experience.
Works as a full fledged mobile phone. The new tab doesn’t
CONs:
It’s a little uncomfortable to carry, and samsung’s bluetooth audio quality is not the best in the world.
The handsfree provided by samsung is utter crap.
Device needs to restart sometimes after playing games, or watching videos for a long time. Any which ways, it does reboot on it’s own once every two days or so.
Battery life is adequate(1 -2 days depending on your usage) but you can’t complain in this form factor.
Samsung has stopped supporting updates to important applications such as email barely 6 months after launching this product in the indian market. Product life cycle is 6 months?
