I was looking for a LCD TV for my bed room.I saw review on the net and also went thru Samsung india website before buying this TV and felt that this is a value for money one. I bought this Samsung LCD 26 inch on Jan 1st 2008 (purchased for Rs.29, 000 from Vasanth & Co, Chennai)
When I opened the box, the piece was a work of an art, its very attractive. And I felt that I have bought a good value for money TV
I wall mounted the TV and when I sit on the bed I am able to see the picture somewhat clearly (I will come to the picture quality later). But when I lie down and watch, I was shocked as I saw only ghost images. The viewing angle mentioned in the website is 150 - 160 degrees, but when I lie down, the viewing angle is around 120 degrees only.
There is a anti reflective coating on the screen, which is causing this problem, but why do a TV require this I am not sure.
I saw a 32 inches Samsung LCD at airport and the anti reflection coating was not avaible in that and I was able to see the picture clearly even at a 170 degree angle from below. So the problem here is because of this anti reflective coating.
Coming to th PIP (Picture in Picture), this option is not working, when asked about this to the Samsung call center executive, he says that "only when there is HDMI connectivity to the TV from sources like DVD player, this feature will be enabled". But this is not mentioned in the User manual or in the website.
Picture quality, when I connected a DVD player, the picture was clear and sound is better. But when I connect to the cable television, the display is not of that good quality.
The call center agent has said that he will send a service engineer to my house, I will update this page if I get any resolution from Samsung.
Request you guys to be very careful before buying LCD TV. And do not recommend Samsung LCD TV.
