I finally took the plunge and replaced my trusty old 29" picture tube for this wide screen LCD, and so far (about a month), Im loving it! The picture is so clear and bright, there are several inputs for all the gadgets at home, inluding my laptop, its light, it swivels, wow. In fact, there is very little to crib about, but just for the sake of those who find these aspects interesting:
The sound is ok, nothing fantastic, and if you connect a laptop/PC, you need to have a widescreen driver, or the image could look a little hazy. Anyway, with widescreen laptops coming in soon, that should go away for most people. Again, for the sake of nit-picking, I wish it would come on a little faster, and the menu driven user interface was better designed. One thing common to all wide screens, is that people look a wee bit fatter and cars look low slung, until you figure out picture manipulation to your taste.
This came along with a free Samsung HD DVD player as a promo, so I also got to check out the HDMI capabilities. Frankly the TV does such a good job enhancing regular TV, that the HD picture does not look all that different.
On the service and support side, the engineer from Samsung who was to come and demo the set and arrange for wall mounting if required never showed up. Anyway, its worked well enough so far, and if I dont need the service guys in the near future, I will continue to be enthusiastic about this product!
