I purchased a Samsung LED 40"( Model UA40D5000PHXZW) in Oct 2011 considering Samsung a pioneer in this field. By the end of one year its top left corner started showing a small patch of size 5mm X 10mm. Since it was small we didnt consider it a fault.
After another year the patch started spreading on right side converting in to strip of gray color.
When I reported that matter to the Samsung Customer care, they checked the TV and said LED panel is defective & it needs replacement. The special concession price is Rs 24, 640, whichI need to pay because the warranty period was only 1 year. When I asked them whether your TV panel last only for 1 year. then the reply was that our quality is the best quality in the market, and a consumer should take house hold insurance policy to cover such minor defects & contingencies. On my repeated request to share the cost at least 50: 50, they initially agreed to share 20:80, but later went back on their promise.
I still have the same TV and displaying to my friends & relatives how good is Samsung quality. Snap shots attached of the poor quality.Through this forum I would like to caution the general public that never go for such costly product( the TV cost was Rs.60, 000) & if you decide to go then take warranty of LED panel for at least 8 or 10 years. Specifically do not by SAMSUNG unless they give you warranty for all defects for 10 years.
