Mouthshut.com has yet again helped me to make a good decision on buying a product. This time I wanted to buy a fridge and after going through lots of reviews of all the brands on mouthshut, I shortlisted Samsung and LG. I even spoke to my friends about my decision and they too suggested I go for Samsung or LG. I decided to opt for a fridge above 300l.I headed out to the various showrooms at Panvel and Nerul in Navi Mumbai to check out the products myself. Both the brands were good and offered good after-sales support and service. Service is the first thing I check before buying any product. So lets get to business now.
The quality of both the products was good, inside as well as outside. LG and Samsung have their own patented form of cooling and the sales person explained all these features to me. Features like door-cooling, ice-cube twist trays, silver nano, etc were some of the things that were being told to me and I was impressed. Besides the technology difference, I noticed that the racks in Samsung were of glass whereas in LG they were of plastic. The prices of both had a minor difference of 1000 bucks, so it was not a big deal. I finally settled for a silver Samsung RT-340 double door as I already had a Samsung Microwave and I was happy with the service of Samsung. I paid Rs 17500 for it and got it delivered to my place after 3 days.
After using the fridge for 3 months since Nov 2006, here is what I have to comment on it:Cooling is excellent. All my vegetables and other food stuff now last longer as compared to the time when I was without a fridge. The deep freezer is amazing too. I can get ice cubes ready in just 10 minutes and the twist tray really are a wonder. I don’t even have to remove the ice cube tray to get my ice cubes.
I just turn the knob and the ice cubes fall in the container below, ready for use. The compressor does not make too much noise and is not much of a disturbance. I am happy with this purchase and I would recommend it. I thank mouthshut.com for helping me make a good decision.
