One has to admit, there is something about Clamshell phones that makes them irresistible .Of all the Reliance phones that I have come across and used (I have changed my Reliance number 4 times within a time span within 1 yr) It’s the BEST. I have a problem, I think it has more to do with my innate nature than my financial viability to change phones. But, this was the phone that made me loyal, It’s one of the phones I know I’ll forever cherish even after it’s long gone- just like my 3330, my 3rd GSM phone, even though I am on my 6th GSM set, I still miss it.
First off I, would like to state that I use my phone a lot- 270 hrs in 1.5 yrs, to be exact and conversations lasting more than 120 Minutes, are not uncommon. My SMS usage on an average is nearly 1.5-2.5 K SMS per month, u do the math.
I was under the DAPO, so I had free 400 Minutes every month and very cheap rates. And SMS was free, all over India.
This phone enabled me to use the DAPO to the fullest and more importantly it was a phone not everybody has, so it did have novelty value. The software in the phone was BLASINGLY fast- just like Nokia GSM phones. The phone itself is very beautiful and sleek, it gives a very fine and royal feel.
The display on the outside is a B/W display. The Inside one is Color, though not very vibrant like the Samsung c100, but at the time it was launched it looked good. One bad thing though, you cannot change any thing about the Inside display.
BUT, every thing is not that rosy today, the phone no longer is beautiful, it has aged with time. Both the batteries, are as good as dead and have abysmal talk time and virtually non existent standby times, that too within 1.5 yrs.
The network, which was the strong point when I bought this phone, is also very weak now.
It has got a limited memory, so the scheduler now is virtually useless, I have to clear memory.
All the features of the phone which I found, useful and Intersting now seem archaic compared to newer models
All in all it was fun while it lasted, but it lasted for a very short time.
