After months of fraustrations at our ancient refrigerator, our family finally made the sensible decision to go in for a new one. We opted for the Samsung NMB . Well We’ve all been very happy about our purchase decision and though it’s just been a month and a half, the product seems to be living upto it’s promises.
The samsung is actually a beautifully sculpted machine with aestethic appeal. The Front doors boast of a soft corrugated finish with recessed handles and thus nothing sticks out. The brand logo is tastefully embossed in blue and there are contours on the door which makes the refrierator worth staring at. There are no nasty coils and the edges are smooth. All these design incorporations make the samsung a bit more shapely than a rectangular cuboid.
There are different tempreature zone for both the refrigerator and the freezer which one can adjust according to the amount of food. The 330L version is quite spaceous with the now standard adjustable shelves feature. The light fitting inside the refrigerator is done tastefully with the semi spherical cover almost imitating a good lamp shade. It sort of emits a diffused light which won’t sting the eyes of a mignight snack hunter and yet is adeqaute to illuminate the contents of the whole refrigerator section. There is however no light in the freezer section so bad luck if you’re sneaking your favourite ice cream at the middle of the night. There’s also a novel twist-type ice maker which makes the job of removing ice cubes a joke. All you do is twist a knob like an ignition key and hey presto! all the cubes fall neatly to a collector underneath without your fingers getting afflicted by frostbite.
I thought of the Bio Fresh technology incorporated by Samsung as nothing more than a marketing gimmic till I saw the results for myself. week old cucumbers taste as if they have been freshly procured from the market and you will not collapse out of mausea when you open the fridge door as there is an efficient deodizer which keeps stale and unpleasant odours at bay.
The compressor hum is minimal although it’s not totally silent, and maintance is almost unnecessary thanks to it’s frost free design and Bio fresh technology.
The Koreans seems to have done their homework well and for the first time we Indians can excercise our discerning choice for a product which is almost taken for granted but indespensible nevertheless.
