I have seen the future - and it is NOW!
Ive been using this 15 TFT (Thin Film Transistor or as some like to call it: Totally Flat Tube!) monitor at work for almost a month now and its much better than I expected.
I dont know exactly how much they cost but given taxes/duties Im sure it would be about DOUBLE the cost of a flat 17 CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) monitor.
My guess would be about Rs. 30-35 K.
Its like my eyesight has improved!
Everything seems much sharper and brighter even from a distance AND all angles.
Its better than my IBM ThinkPad screen which is also quite good.
The viewing angle used to plague older LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) monitors as they used to fade away quickly if you not looking at them head on.
Ive tried almost 150 degrees of movement around the screen and there was minimal drop off in brightness which is truly exceptional.
I did not belive the initial hype that such 15 TFT could replace 17 CRTs but its true!
The viewable image surface (VIS) is almost the same and the exceptional clarity more than makes up any remaining difference.
The only adjustment you might need to make is the brightness depending on your ambient lighting conditions.
The brightness buttons are also directly on the monitor which is excellent since you dont have to browse through the OSM (on-screen menu) to get to it.
Its like the product designers could read my mind - full marks for usability.
Ive never had to make any of the other usual adjustments that I did on my 17 flat CRT like DeGauss, Horizontal, Vertical (stretching, moving), etc.
My GT Cruiser (2.4L 215 bhp v6 turbo) screensaver looks absolutely positively stunning!
The only thing better than this would be actually owning a GT ...
This is truly the way forward in monitor technology.
Now it feels like Im in the 21st century.
If you can afford it, you will not be disappointed!
If only an Indian manufacturer could make a product of this quality, we could be where China is now ...
For the first time I have no complaints/suggestions for improvement for a product that Ive reviewed here on MS!!
;-)
I only see further because I stand on the shoulders of giants.
PS: OK, after thinking REALLY hard I finally came up with a few little areas for improvement:
Get rid of the DIGITAL LIFE text on the stand - it just looks silly.
Change the stand to one like the iMac which can swivel with one hand - this one needs both your hands to adjust its height/angle.
2a. The neck part of the stand should rotate all the way to 90 degrees from the current max of about 60 so we can maximise the height of the screen.
Integrated flat speakers with headphone jack would be a nice upgrade.
More colors/face plates (e.g., Nokia) would be great though the current silver is fine.
In India we need dust covers for everything!
Aahhh ... feel much better now that Ive found some flaws!
Im doing alright, getting good grades,
my futures so bright ... I gotta wear shades
