In the monitor bought from authorized dealer Supreme, the authorised dealer in Chennai, there was greenish shade on left side and a bronish hue on right with fringe pattern on the right. I mailed Damsung service. Their rep furiously called me, came over a day later and said the problem was due poor earthing - showed a voltage of 7 V on the third pin of the plug and said it should be below 6 V. Then he got a signature from me, to say that he had serviced the monitor to my satisfaction . The problem had not clearly been identified or sorted out, by comparing with another new monitor or anything like that in their service laboratory. He told me to put it on full bright as then the problem would not be seen too much. However, it woud be difficult to work long hours in this mode.
The top part of the service form - he told me to leave it blank. Presumably, he woud get from Samsung money for the faults, he would write above. I suspect the service agents of Samsung are tryimg to rip off the Samsung company, with false service reports. He then asked me take the monitor over to Mylapore where the main srvice centre is loocated, was for a checkup, the next morning.
Totally unsatisfactory service - the least he could do was change it for another new one considerng tha I bought the monitor on Nov. 2, 2006. The 798 Plus is a clear Minus, service=wise
