(Mouth Shut did not have a separate category for 1875U. Hence have posted it under 1675 Micro.)
Sansui MP3V-1875 U was a novel product from the Japanese company with the tag line “Better than the Best”.
This Micro Hi- Fi system is equipped with a Digital CD/VCD/MP3 deck, Cassette Recorder/Player and a FM/AM radio.
The sound output of 400 W PMPO, sufficient for student rooms.
The best part of the system are its looks.
With a vertical see through CD/MP3/VCD tray the looks are smashing.
I have a silver colour system that is attached with two wooden speakers with wood finish that certainly looks very posh.
The clarity is better than the Philips and the Thompson range.
But then there is a Sony that the Sansui is no match for.
The system was purchased in 2002 December and since then it has not given any problems other than a slight problem with the tape head.
One of the IC’s in the tape head mal functioned and the speaker output gave out a hissing sound.
The after sales service was very good and all I did was informed the service men at Sansui over the net regarding the problem and it was addressed the very next day.
Pretty satisfying to see people so prompt in services in India!!
Now for the technicalities.
--The system is as earlier stated a 5 in 1 with VCD/ACD/MP3/Tape/Radio
--The Sound output is 400 W PMPO
--The weight is 10.3 kgs. So friends don’t confuse this with the small 100 W PMPO
Philips or Thompson sets.
--The VCD output is very good. It can read scratched CDs to a good extent.
--The remote control is functional only with the CD trays i.e. the remote can be used
to control the volume, skip tracks etc. only with the VCD/ACD and MP3s.
The frustrating part is that the cassette deck has to be operated manually.
The same is with the radio tuning and volume control.
--The system has a single cassette deck. So recording from one cassette to another
is not possible.
-- The cost of the system then was Rs. 9500/-. You may think that this price is high
but then the cost of music systems were not as low as now. The cheapest Sony
of comparable statistics was Rs. 13500/-. The Sony retails its 400 W micro
systems at Rs 8500/- now.
However, to put it in simple words, the Sansui MP3-1875 U has so far given a very satisfactory service.
If you ask for recommendations then I would give double thumbs up.
