Well the Chennai 600028 team comes up with a surprise package this time not only holding the thread of comedy but also a thriller attached to it, which was rightly interwoven to give a strong rope. The story begins with 4 ordinary men, Ajay Kumar (Shiva) a TV Artist, Ganesh Kumar (Premji) love boy, Jagapathi Babu (SPB Charan) Family man and Ram Babu (Vaibhav) as Jagapathi’s brother.
Story moves on with Ajay’s engagement and a flashback revealing Vaibhav’s love failure and a grand parade of TV artist attending the engagement ceremony ends up with a lovely song. These 4 men plan to watch ODI cricket match in Hyderabad, they plan to go on road by VolksWagen Transporter.
The fun begins from the very start of the film and it goes hilarious when their journey starts from Chennai to Hyderabad where you can find almost the entire crew of Chennai 600028 appearing on screen. As I said at the start of my review the story moves with a comedy thread and a thriller attached to it. A girl named Saroja was missing and later came to know that girl was kidnapped for a huge ransom by thugs. Vishwanath (Prakash Raj) a business tycoon and the father of Saroja seeks help of Ravichandran- ACP (Jayaram) and a very close friend to rescue her daughter.
One may be wondering why the story moves from comedy to thriller every frame or a sequence. Venkat Prabhu excells in linking the comedy track into the serious thriller at a remote place in Hyderabad. These 4 ordinary men are on their way to watch cricket match in Hyderabad gets strucked up in Highway due to Chemical tanker lorry accident which blocks the way, and followed by huge pile up of vehicles bounding to Hyd n Chennai.
Initially they decided to go back to Chennai and later they takes a shorter route to reach Hyderabad. Without knowing the route they ends up in a dungeon factory and the van hits a person who is later a police officer who was mercilesly killed by thugs in front of their eyes. In meantime Ganesh Kumar and Ram Babu enters the factory to seek assistance to rescue the person who was hit by their van. Shiva and Gajapathi escapes from the thugs before they were being noticed, later they realises that their friends were inside the factory and how they going to rescue them its the main plot of the story and also there was a girl inside the factory, who was kidnapped by these thugs for ransom.......... The story moves on how these guys and the girl inside were rescued.
The story was so racy that it makes you glued to your seats till interval, Yuvan’s performance was laudable for his background scores and also the cameraman bringing out his best from the old factory . From here on the entire movie runs in dark and it moreover looked like hide and seek game played at night which could have been avoided by editing most of the scenes comes in the second half. Its purely the editors n directors mistake to stretch the second half of the story.
Though the movie revolves on a serious plot at times you will burst into laughter with the timely jokes. Just go and watch this movie without any much expectations, if you expect more you may not enjoy this movie...Cos the film viewing taste differs from person to person. Just go n watch , you will be surprised... Overall its good performance by the Saroja team.
