Gir Forest Reserve(GIR VAN) a wild life sanctuary established in around in 1970 it is between three district of gujraat junagarh, somnath, amreli district. it is spread in the area of 1500 km.
The first declaration of this as protected area is by moghal nawad Muhammad Mahabat Khan III in 19th century.
It is famous homage of Asiatic lion "Babbar Sher". the ecosystem of Gir is very supported for diverse plant and spices ther are around thousand of plant and spices are living which are in endanger condition and the most one is tiger and asiatic lions.
There are many water reserves mainly are Machhundri, Godavari, Shetrunji, Datardi, Hiran and also there are dam in those reservoirs. and there is biggest reservoir is "kamaleshvar"
Tere are also botanical garden where almost 400 species are kept and many of mammals and reptile and insects. in carnivore group leopard cobra, jungle cats, hyenas, jackal adn many more.
I went there with my family and I was very good experience and exciting. the facility around the place is very good. you can hire a guide with you who will give you the important knowledge related to all things. the traveling facility is good you can go there by various way.and they will help us and with them we go to there much close as possible and it will give you the goose bump. very good experience and learned a lot about nature and ecological system.
