It was quite a prosperous year for Sourav Ganguly. Sample this. A former captain who was asked to leave the team and later stages a comeback to join the elite club of cricketers who have scored over a thousand runs is stuff of cricketing legends. He scored over a thousand runs in Test and One-day cricket. In 2007, he played 9 Tests and scored 1023 runs at an average of 64 with three centuries. In the 50-over format, he scored 1120 runs at an average of 43 in 30 matches.


In the recently concluded Test series against Pakistan, Sourav Ganguly amassed over 500 runs in just three Tests. The Pakistan series was certainly a memorable one for the cricketer. The memorabilia that he took away was his first double-ton(239) and most importantly his maiden hundred at home, the Eden Gardens.
