Tiger Tiger Burning Bright

Tiger Tiger Burning Bright

In the Forest of the Night.......

A very famous stanza from a great poet. Whenever I see Saurav play and specially for the last few months which has experienced some of the dark days of Indian cricket, this verse comes to my mind. Whenever you try to follow the proceedings of Indian cricket you are sure to find one thing, i.e. the team getting a lot of languishing from the media as a whole. But there is always one character who stands out and always makes it clear that the media too has it’s limitations. He draws a boundary between his team and the brutal side of media. Imagine the same being done by a tiger to protect the animals from poachers. Who else is fit enough to rule. Whenever he has performed the team has won, whether with the ball or with the bat. Whenever there is an opportunity, he is ready to pounce, always optimistic about the things to turn. I remember when he was interviewed once during his recent bad phase as to the reason behind it, he said that he could feel that the runs were coming. Does anybody , I mean anybody has the guts to make such a comment!!!!! Well he scored 76 in the next match abd got out to a wrong decision. I also remember him saying that ’ Doing things repeatedly , which you don’t like to do makes yourself mentally tough’.

Hats off to the King , the character who has added flavour to otherwise a dull setup and who makes sure that even if the mighty Australians come to conquer the last piece of land left over on the cricketing world, they are driven off in style.
