The List is... LIFE

This is a true story of Oscar Schindler a businessman who saved about 1100 jew lives from death in gas chambers

This movie is a classic masterpiece and a must see for everybody.

A long one but worth seeing. It takes us to the holocaust era--One of the darkest chapters in the human history--The age at which hatred for the jew community had reached its peak in Germany and Surrounding Nations--Jews were restricted to ghettos-- Their rights were taken away--the Third Reich wanted to make the Jew community vanish as soon as possible. The Final Solution!!

Liam Neeson is brilliant and charismatic Oscar and really memorable one.

Amon Goeth(Ralph Fiennes) is shown as a nazi monster who distroys jews at will. There are certain very heart wrenching scenes of horror when he shoots the jew people at will. Hatred can be very dangerous.

Earlier I had known about the nazi onslaught in textbooks and stuff but man O man!

A picture is worth a thousand words ! This movie really made me think about the holocaust .

It took almost 6 million Jew lives.

There are many opinions on the holocaust. some people deny it altogether but it is true.

This movie is all about hatred and love. Oscar Schindler is a member of the Nazi party who wants to

make use of war to gain wealth. Initially he is just another businessman who uses the jew labourers

to produce pots and pans at the time of war. Jew labourers are cheaper. He wants to start a business butdoesnt have enough money.

In Itzhak Stern (Ben Kingsley) he finds a loyal accountant.

He asks Itzhak to use his contacts to borrow money from Jew moneylenders. The factory flourishes

and Schindler becomes wealthier. then he creates a list of 1100 Jews who were to be employed in his Shell factory. The shell factory produces defective shells but Oscar bribes the German officers and keeps it running till the war ends and Germany surrenders to the Allies.

Finally the war ends.

The Schindler jews are out of danger after the end of war and Amon Goeth is hanged for the atrocities against humanity.

Oscar has to flee since he is member of Nazi party

Then the Jews present him with a ring which has the Hebrew words from the Talmud on it.

’’Whoever saves a life saves the world entire.’’.

Now Oscar realizes how important his factory has become to the Jews.

He had spent a lot of money. He could have saved more lives with that money.

He breaks in tears when he senses he could have saved more.

This scene always stirrs my mind. According to me this is the culmination point of the entire

film.

The entire movie is in black and white. But It takes colour only when the jews are liberated.

When I purchased the VCD of this film. One of my friend recommended it to me.

I was wondering whether I would watch the full movie (Since I am not used to watching the emotionaly intensive films which I had thought this film was gonna be.) but guess what;

As usual Life is never predictable!!

I watched the whole movie and even enjoy watching it again.. Probably therein lies the success of this film.

Surely finds a place in my alltime top 10 movies.
