You don’t expect the working conditions faced by the Field engineers in their formative years.You land up your hands on the latest technology, very demanding and tough working conditions, physically and mentally.But the company rewards you in terms of career growth, opportunities and monetary benefits.Which can’t be matched by any other industry, if you look at the initial 3 years.
Off late, in last 2 years, in India, the average salary of other top companies has been rising and this company has not increased it. This will, and already has shown the impact on the talent migration.One of the new recruits asked me, Why would I join this company if I don’t get the premium SLB used to provide for the tough working conditions, compared to a guy who joins Google, Yahoo or Microsoft?
