External hard drives prove to be an important component when your computer runs out of memory or to backup your important and valuable data. So it is necessary that the hard drive you are using is a fully trusted and secure device.
I am using an external hard drive by Seagate(500GB) for 1 year now but I am totally disappointed with this hard drive.
The hard drive was running fine for about 6-7 months but then a lot of problems started. The hard drive performance greatly decreased in terms of speed and reading capacity.
The build and design of the hard-drive is also not good as the material used for making it, is very soft and fragile.
Another problem is that some of the computer are not able to read it. My smart TV also could not read this hard drive. I have to unplug and re-plug the wire a lot of time to use it.
The transfer speed of the files in and out of the hard-drive has also greatly reduced. Sometimes it starts showing a message which says that my USB device is not responding. Then I have to stop the operation and restart it after re-plugging the hard drive.
I tried to contact the customer care as Seagate provided me 1 year warranty. But the customer care guy said that I can no longer avail the warranty as the warranty was available for only 6 months and the other 6 months were only for accidental damage.
The device is of course not a value for money. This was not expected from Seagate.
So guys, only buy a hard-drive if you know someone who has used it and has rated it good.
