I’ve been hearing stuff about audiogalaxy and other Napster clones. I haven’t tried these s/ws. But what I have tried and found to be closest to the great Napster is’WINMX’.
I had almost no problems what-so-ever with this small piece of s/w. It’s fast, it’s efficient and it’s loaded with all the songs in the world. But, if you are looking for latest hindi songs, you won’t find it easily. But you can expect to find the Hindi songs which have been hit or released some time back. Most of the Hindi films songs are easy to find, but only the latest Indipop songs and Ghazals are a bit of a problem. But that depends on the members and their tastes.
There is a useful chat facility, which reminds me of good old Napster. You can browse thro’ other users’ songs.
Ok, had enough of songs?.Then what can you find you may ask.?
Ok, you can find video files, pictures, and any non-MP3 file. Now isn’t that cool?
I found an extremely rare technical ebook.
I’ve been using Morpheus before WinMX. It was damn good. Now it is history. Yes folks, good things don’t last long. It’s been shutdown like Napster.’BearShare’ is another martyr in this’soon-becoming-extinct’ species of s/w. I used to love Bearshare.
So, while I am writing this review, there’s a great song getting downloaded. I think it should be finished by now. There it is! a song in every 5-10 mins while you check your mails. Long live Bryan Adams and’WinMX’!
we all know Bryan Adams will be 18 till he dies, but can the same thing be said about’WinMX? Only time will tell. So make hay while the sun shines.!
