No Second Thoughts

The week that passed made me read a book that can be easily be said that it was a big let down. This is the first book of Shobha De, I read.....but I have no second thoughts that this book can be avoided.

good description of both Although the style of writing is pretty ok, in the sense that there is something to look forward to but the wait for that is endless....and the worst part nothing comes out of it. The details of the protagonist are good, and same is the case of the protagonist husband, but the other characters in the story are vague.Too much paper is wasted on telling the difference between life and people of Bombay and Calcutta. There are a lot of half- characterisations in the story if I am allowed to use this term.Characters of Maya’s father & mother are pretty vague and so is the case with the characterisation of Maya’s mother-in-law.There are a lot of things whch is let to the imagination of the general public. In some cases the story drags along and characters of the servant, dhobi, the idli-wallah act as fillers.

Sex which is an integral part of any Shobha De novel comes a bit too late by which time the interest in the book is lost.

Overall a book which dosen’t tell you much but helps you to imagine to make your own story.
