Yes, thats how usual Matthew Reilly books are and his new one... Seven Ancient Wonders is no exception.
The story is great, the pace is FAST and the authour makes you so involved with the story, its like watching a fast paced action thriller in your head.
I hate hard back books and so I was waiting for the paperback to be released. I got it from Landmark as soon as I could and finished reading within a day.
I wouldnt compare Matthew Reilly to any other authours works. His books stand out with their pace. There is no slow introduction of characters, setting etc. He just jumps into the story, taking you with him for a great ride.
I was never the kind of a girl who reads this type of action. I picked up Contest by accident once and Ive never looked back. His vivid descriptions with hand drawn maps and diagrams to explain his map makes it easier to imagine the settings. Especially so about the various Egyptian traps in this book.
If you like this genre, pick one of his books and youll never turn back. His other books are Contest, Temple, Ice Station, Area 7, Scarecrow, Hovercar Racer etc. I own almost all of them :-)
