My husband had chest pain and came to the emergency room of the hosp. The ECG and other blood tests were normal. This wasent surprising because my husband has become something of a hypochondriac. He is only in his late 20s but is over concerned about his health. The senior doctor saw his ECG and blood tests and reviewd all his old reports and said everything was normal. He just asked for a repeat ECG after 2 hours to be on the safe side. But in his absence, the other doctors in the emergency started frightening my husband and said how things can be missed.
They asked him to do a CT angigraphy which costs more than 10, 000 Rs. The senior doctor said it wasent necessary but he was over-ruled by the Medical supt. The test was done and it was normal. I have never seen such a thing happening in other big hospitals. It is as though the hospital wants to make money in any way possible. We are from Delhi and we have never seen a senior doctors opinion being over-ruled. It was highly disturbing
