After a long battle with my aunt, my cousin did register onto this site. She did meet some really nice gentlemen, who quickly turned into not-so-nice men.
I am just writing this review to create awareness among people. All you need to register in this site is a valid phone number and email address. Scamsters have that too. Refining the scamming strategy, some of them use a credit card, pay a few thousands and get to see important details such as your phone number and email ID.
One particular incident prompted me to write this article.
There was a gentleman, who claimed to be a big businessman in Chandigarh. When we requested his office and home address, he did provide us with the details. Probably, he was thinking that we would not cross check. Luckily, we did have some relatives up North and upon inquiry, it turned out that this guy was jobless. The address that he gave was his uncles business.
Shaadi, no doubt, has good intentions in bringing together people who would normally not be meeting up. However, given that marriage is a very serious life decision, there should be some amount of caution exercises both on the part of Shaadi as well as the girl or boy.
My suggestions for both Shaadi and boy/girl:
-Do a thorough background check of the boy - ask for his educational details, family details and financial details and VERIFY them.
-A word of caution: Some detective agencies claim to do this, but they take money from the guy/girl in question and give a biased report.
-Do not feel embarrassed about asking for these details - it is the question of your loved ones life.
-Any self-respecting boy would not mind giving his balance sheets or income tax returns - in fact if he is as accomplished as he says he is - he must feel proud to do it.
-Visit the place of residence/work and see if everything is what they say it is.
-If you know the address and they claim it to be their own house, do an encumbrance check to see if they really own the house and if they have any loans/mortgage on it. - this will cost you a few hundreds, but the result is your peace of mind. We did find that some men who claimed to be business owners did not have even own their own house.
These might seem very silly or superficial - but in the long run, a relationship such as marriage should be based on truth. With truth, there will be trust.
