The pangs before marriage

Hi guys, I just saw this movie today and here I am writing this revire on it. This is an honest and unbiased review on this movie.... in my ishtyle

THE STORY

Nothing remarkable, but nothing offensive either. It deals with the life of a twenty-something guy who works in an ad agency. He is in love with the proverbial girl-next-door. Everything is rosy and they are engaged happily. Now this is where the story actually starts......

Akshaye Khanna (the ad agency dude) is extremely paranoid and thinks that he has some disease or another..... when in fact, he has none at all. He makes the mistake of thinking that he has cancer and has only one year to live. In a melancholic mood, he reflects on his life and realises that his death would affect his fiance (Ayesha Takia) the most. In a crazy turn of events, he decides to make himself so bad that Ayesha will dump, ditch and leave him high and dry. But this task turns out to be tougher than he had anticipated as Ayesha and her family refuse to acknowledge his idiosyncracies and persist with him. But all that changes when he meets supermodel Sania (Mallika Sherawat). The movie then takes on a different turn with funny incidents splaterred along the way.......

CAST PERFORMANCE

  1. Akshaye Khanna- Ashish Modi

  2. Ayesha Takia- Rani Bhalla

  3. Aftab Shivdasani- Rohit

  4. Mallika Sherawat- Sania

  5. Suniel Shetty- Anna (24 ghante chaukkanna)

Akshaye Khanna

This guy just might be the most under-rated actor in the country. He churns out a brilliant performance film after film and does not get acknowledged for his effort and skill. Poor dude. His potrayal of a paranoid groom-to-be is awesome, you can’t help pity the guy. Not in a single frame does he look artificial or fake. This is not to say that he is a Shahrukh or Hrithik, but is as good as say, Ajay Devgan or Saif.

Ayesha Takia

The cute cherub that Ayesha really is, it comes across in her character. She looks CUTE, no other word for it. Although she has evolved and is now quite a competitive actress who could be on top five to seven years from now.

MALLIKA SHERAWAT

Her name has to come in caps wherever it is written. She has little scope to act (as usual) but she still manages to leave an impact on the viewer (as usual). Her potrayal of a seductive supermodel is realistic. She livens up the movie just when it seems to be dragging.

Suniel Shetty

Stammering Suniel needs to get his act together. He should be a lead hero (loke Akshay Kumar) but he has to settle for a sidekick role. He justifies his selection in the movie by putting in a decent performance.

MY OPINION

I think that after Rang De Basanti, this movie is the best in 2006. A clean (relatively) flick with the typical masala with an important lesson at the end. The lesson is: All the problems are in the head. It’s all in the mind.
