Okay....just okay...

Shantaram explores the inside story of the MUMBAI city of the 80’s.It tells u the story of Gregory David Roberts an Australian Prisoner who escapes prison and with his friends’ help reaches MUMBAI.In Mumbai he lives in a slum, works for the local MAFIA, acts in a bollywood movie, fights a war in Afghanistan....

Though Roberts takes enough time in making THE atmosphere....and making us feel as if you ARE there and seeing it....at a point the story starts getting bore...especially when the epidemic strikes the slum and everyone is down with disease..

There are many true characters in this EPIC though the author says its a semi-fiction I strongly feel that only characters’ names are changed but the basic story is still TRUE.

Lots of great thoughts and fundas abt various aspects of life are discussed by the author with the other characters which makes the story unique.

Its’ truly great on the authors part to have made it to this top after 2-3 earlier editions of the book were destroyed by gaurds at a particular prison. It is an example of how your will can take you places!!!

But still I truly feel the book is not that catchy and thrilling adventure as it is claimed to be......dont read unless u can survive the boring thick pages for long.....
