Sharaabi has Probably one of the best performances by Amitabh Bacchan, but i’ll get into that later on. The movie is directed by amitabh’s favorite prakash mehra, It has amitabh, jaya pradha, ranjeet and pran in the movie. The music is by bappi lahiri.
The film is about vicky ( amitabh) who is drunkyard( sharaabi). He is the only son of a rich bussiness man pran, who has been spending his whole time in his bussiness and doesn’t spare a single moment for his son vicky. Vicky has no mother and this makes a vicky a lonely guy a drunkyard. Unwillingly munshiji (om parkash) is the only persons whom vicky shares his sorrows of life with.
One day meena ( jaya pradha) a stage singer and a dancer enters vicky life. She makes him crazy with her beauty and dance. This makes vicky feel good and gain interest in life with a feeling of love. Meanwhile the clashes between vicky and his father heighten ends with vicky leaving with munshiji. To get liquor for vicky munshiji works on road and dies in a accident. The incident creates turbulence in vicky’s life and make him quit alcohol forever. Vicky father’s is kidnapped by his father’s enemy’s his father needs his help vicky goes and help his father and wins his heart.
The movie has great songs my favorite was log kehte hai mein sharabi hun nasha sharab hota tu nachti bottle. There are lot of other songs in the movie that are great de de pyar de, mujhe naulakha dilade. Bappi lahiri gives some good music.
The movie has some great dialogues by big b. I love it when he says jigar ka dard upar se kahin maloom hota hai jigar ka dard upar se nahin maloom hota hai.
Muche ho tu nathulal jaisi varna na ho.
Govardhan seth samundar mein tairne waale talabon mein dubki nahin lagaya kartey.
Zindagi ka tambu teen bambauo pe khada hota hai.
Amitabh bachnan as always gives a great performance, but this one wasn’t his angry man roles. This was drunkyard role that he does justice with. Jaya pradha does a nice job in the movie, although the whole movie is set on amitabh she plays important part of his life. pran does a nice job as amitabh’s father in the movie. Om prakash is a standout in the movie. He does a very nice job displaying a father figure for amitabh. That gives amitabh hope to live in life. The scene where om parkash dies and brings alcohol for amitabh is worth a watch.
